The Secret Place
The Secret Place Text: Psalm 91:1 – “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” We are called to live in the secret place, not just visit it. To dwell means: to stay, abide, reside, or live. Sadly, many Christians—even pastors—only visit the secret place occasionally. The secret place is your personal devotion and intimacy with God.It is where your strength, identity, and transformation are built. It is where intimacy with God is birthed. Intimacy grows in secrecy. Just as husband and wife share private love, our walk with God requires privacy. It is not religion, but a genuine relationship with God. Religion = doing what looks right with the wrong motive. Christianity = not rituals, but relationship with a loving Father (Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:6). Public victories are born in private devotion. David killed the lion and the bear in secret, before Goliath in public. The world understands secrecy too (secret cults, occult initiation). Without a root (secret place), no tree can stand (public life). Even Jesus lived in the secret place: After miracles (Matt 14:23) Early in the morning (Mark 1:35) Before choosing disciples (Luke 6:12) Before Transfiguration (Luke 9:18) In Gethsemane (Matt 26:36–39) God’s heart, not just His hand. (Matt 6:6, 33) Fruits of the Spirit above gifts of the Spirit. (Gal 5:22–23) Gifts can be counterfeited; fruits cannot. Enoch’s testimony was his walk with God (Gen 5:24). Jesus warned: “By their fruits, you shall know them” (Matt 7:15–23). Pastor Isaac Oyedepo: “Mind your walk with God more than your work for God.” Example: Bishop Oyedepo’s “I can’t be poor” revelation came in the secret place. Everyone who has a voice in the public space must have shares in the secret place. The secret place is where kings and giants are made. Live there, and your life will bear fruit that glorifies God. ✅ Key Takeaway:The secret place is the root of power, intimacy, and lasting impact. Gifts may announce you, but fruits will preserve you. Don’t just visit—live there. Watch Sermon on YouTube or Listen on Mixlr
